Got down there early only to find the beach deserted, couldn't belive there
was no one there with such a good forecast!
I'd picked up my new Core yesterday and it looked like this was the day for
it, it was seriously windy with waves breaking right out to the horizon.
Rigged up and went out but the wind was howling through the Burgh Island
gap and it was hard to keep the board on the water.
Came back in to add more downhaul and snapped the rope, glad that didn't
happen on the water. Had a few more runs but couldn't get out back which
was just as well as it was breaking over mast high.
Overall I was a bit nervous as this was identical conditions to last year
when I broke a rib. Standing in the shallows trying to launch was hard
enough as violent gusts would wrench the board out of the water, so I quit
while I was intact, ready to sail another day.
